"Classical but Old"
This Hotel has everything you need for a business trip, the pros are its location and its architecture. The price is average. The rooms are very well equipped and have nice amenities. My only complaint is that in my room there was a very large humidity stain on a wall.
I have been here before and it maintains the standard. Nice bed and linen with a good shower and excellent location if you will move around downtown. Breakfast buffet a bit pricey (cheaper after 9am) but good. Although the lobby is not the nicest I like this hotel and has ok pool and gym. Belongs to the fiesta Americana chain.

This hotel is a classic property in a fantastic location for this city. In walking distance to many great restaurants and architectural treasures. Staff is helpful and friendly. Food is of the highest quality. Highly recommended.
Even the hotel has a lot of history in Monterrey, the service is horrible! I paid for 3 hours to do a fashion photoshoot at the hotel.. The place was practically empty on that day; we made everything carefully and organized.. the security guard was bored I think, since he interrupted every 10 minutes to tell us, in a very rude way, that we had to stop doing certain things like moving a chair (when I reserved for the photoshoot they told me I could move some furniture if it was on the way), or because we had bottles of water in a table (mmm should I put them on the floor?) or because the models where changing in the bathroom!! (ok so the best idea was to do that in the lobby?) He made us loose time, he was disrespectful and practically we felt like we were intruders.. we had to leave and finish the photos in another location.. when I talked with the person in charge, she did nothing, only gave me excuses. Really..cant believe that what I paid for 3 hours is more than a guest pays for a night... please don't stay here!
"I miss the Old Ancira"
We stayed for one night last week. I was unaware that the Ancira hotel was now part of a chain. The Front Desk personnel was very friendly, they received us with a big smile on their faces. We don't have any complaints with human resources. I understand that the Ancira is currently under renovation work, but the smell of chemicals was very strong in the fifth floor hallway. The TV set and the mini fridge were not working properly. One of the maintenance workers helped us out promptly with the TV set. The good thing about this experience is that I finally got a chance to stay at the Ancira. I would've loved to see Pancho Villa inside the lobby, but unfortunately I missed the hotel's Golden era. It's not bad, but for the high expectations that I had, it was not good. Their greatest asset is their employees. Kudos to them.
